Kim’s Schooling & Credentials
Kim earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. She was on the Dean’s List and was a member of The National Honor Society. Kim holds a dual license in individual and marriage and family counseling and is also certified in a variety of roles, including:
- Licensed Professional Counselor
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- AAMFT Approved Supervisor
- EMDR Certified
- Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC)
She has additional training from the Gottman Institute; a nationally acclaimed, highly effective model for relationship therapy and couples counseling. Kim received specialized, intensive training and work experience as a Functional Family Therapist, where she worked with deeply dysfunctional families to create motivation and trust to create long term change.
Kim was awarded a full scholarship to do PhD work and became a facilitator at The Stryker Institute for Leadership Development, where she led seminars for women aimed at building skills and awareness to overcome the challenges of juggling life; finding balance between parenting, marriage, work and school. She conjointly mentored young, underprivileged girls in the local community to find and create dreams to take steps toward achievement.
She has teaching experience at both the University of Northern Colorado and Colorado State University, where she participated in both classroom teaching and live practicum counseling. She currently serves as an approved Clinical Supervisor for therapists in training and pre-licensure status by coaching them to refine their craft and develop the needed insights and skills sets to practice in a forward motion with their clients, so they can develop as confident, self-aware therapists. Kim developed the role of Mentor, Trainer and Professional Development coordinator at a large private practice in Loveland, Colorado. She is a proud member of the YOU-nique Counseling Community, a collaborative network of independent therapists here in Colorado.
