The Office

Kim does her best to create an environment where you are comfortable and confident, and this means providing an office atmosphere that doesn’t feel like an office. All counselors have a different style, a way of doing their job that is completely unique from the next. Kim’s style is focused on being informal but directive, getting to the heart of the situation with compassion and understanding but without beating around the bush.

The office is a place for you to come and vent. To share your hopes and dreams alongside your struggles and hardships. It is a place where you have complete freedom to say whatever you want and to make real progress toward forming a plan that will help you to change. It is non-judgmental and completely open and honest in order to form an environment where you and Kim can create unique change for unique problems.

Who Kim Works With

Kim tries to continuously work with driven people who are highly-functioning members of society that are looking for a way to change their lives for the long haul. Whether you are looking for just a hand to help guide you through your journey to self-discovery and self-love or need someone to take you hand and lead you down the path, and whether you need individual counseling, couples therapy, or family counseling, Kim is the therapist for you.

Your First Visit

While most of your appointments will run around 45 minutes, your first appointment will usually last about 90 minutes—don’t worry, you are still only paying for a single session.

The reason we do this extended time period is so you and Kim can spend the first 20 minutes or so running through protocol and other information she is required by law to go through with you. The aim for this part of your first visit is for you to get comfortable in Kim’s office as you work through some paperwork and she discusses:

  • Confidentiality
  • Structure of sessions
  • What to expect from me
  • Payment options

The rest of this time is dedicated to you as Kim listens. You are invited to unpack your problems, frustrations, concerns, fears, things you hope to change, things you wished you could have done differently, your joys and your heartbreaks—really anything you want to place on the table so you and Kim can begin to work through it together.
